A Fond Farewell from P1/2

 A Fond Farewell from P1/2 and Miss Macnaughton 

We have come to the end of the year together, we are sad to say goodbye but we will see each other again next term. Out final thoughts of the year…..

‘I learned lots of new things in school, I didn’t realise I would learn so much. I will miss Miss Macnaughton in P2 but I will still see her.’ Amber

‘I enjoyed the school trip to Urquhart Castle, I bought a teddy there.  I’m excited to go to a new block and get another teacher.’ Emily

‘I’m excited to go into a new block, meet a new teacher and learn new stuff.  I’m looking forward to seeing new people.  I will miss my teacher but I will still see her at break and lunch.’ Adam

‘I was excited when learning about castles, I am looking forward to going into Miss Giblin’s classroom.’ Kian 

‘ I liked having Miss Macnaughton as my teacher, I’m looking forward to moving block.’ Lucas

‘I enjoyed the trip going to Urquhart Castle and the Baillie Cup.  I’m looking forward to having a new classroom.’ Charlie

‘In art it is really fun because its a time when you get to draw.  I’m excited to go in to a new classroom.’ Effie

One World Picnic A block

On Friday we had a lovely picnic, the weather was not very good so we had it in the hall.

Primary 2 Castles Day

While Primary 1 were on their trip to Urquhart Castle, all of the Primary 2 children had a chance to mingle and work together across two classes to complete different activities related to their topic of Castles.

Urquhart Castle Trip Comic Strips:

‘We learned that comic strips have writing and pictures in them. They have speech bubbles and thinking bubbles.’ Melody

‘We had to put lots of colour and detail in them so that they stood out.’ Rory H

Local Castle Art in the Style of Andy Warhol’s Pop Art:

‘I liked it when we were colouring in our castles because we had to make it stand out and keep changing the colours in each section.’ Aiden H

‘I thought it was going to be really easy but drawing Urquhart Castle was really hard. So I chose Inverness Castle instead.’

Urquhart Castle Trip and Fencing with Culloden Fencing Club!

Primary 2 children had a wonderful day at Urquhart Castle this week. They enjoyed exploring the ruins, seeing the prison cell and learning about the history of the castle and the different people who once lived there. The next day A block had a chance to have a go at fencing using plastic fencing equipment.

‘I really enjoyed the trip because we got to see what castles actually looked like in the film. At the end I loved how they opened the curtains so we could see what the castle looks like now. We saw how it had changed and what happened to it.’ Rosa

‘It was great fun and it was very adventurous. I loved seeing the dungeon. There was a creepy man in it.’ Suzie

‘I liked that you could see real armour and helmets.’ Dougray

‘I liked seeing the catapult because it was interesting.’ Brody

‘We found out that not all castles have water in the moats. Some castles don’t even have moats.’ Samuel

Afternoon Nursery Transition Banquet

On Wednesday the Nursery joined Primary 1/2 for our last transition project event.  We celebrated with a castle banquet.  We started with some dancing followed by our buffet banquet and our song There Was A Princess Long Ago which we acted out in the Lilac room.  This is what we thought of the day –

Baillie Cup

What a fabulous day at the Baillie cup yesterday, even with the rain.  All the children did so well and representing the school brilliantly. We also won best banner and got a box of celebrations.

‘It was exciting doing the Baillie Cup, I came third in the relay and the sprint.’ Charlie

‘It was fun running for our school. I got a medal for the relay.’ Grace

‘I was a little bit scared at the start but when it was my turn I sprinted all the way to get third place.’ Ewen 

‘I liked running and getting a medal. I was doing the sprinting and I got a third medal, I felt excited after the race.’ Amber

There were different races of different lengths and primary 1, 2 ,3 and 4 went.  I really liked when we did the relay because the primary one started, then primary two, then me and lastly Ryan.  My group came third and I got a medal.” Jamie

“I enjoyed this activity because it was the first time going on the track.”  Rhys

“I thought it was really fun as we won the best banner”  Rachael.

“I liked the 100 metres relay race and the 150 metres sprint.  I came third in both of these”  Ryan

“I was nervous before my race.  I cant really remember what I was thinking or feeling but I know that I had to run around the whole track once and a half in the 600 metres race.  Afterwards I felt ok as I had manage to complete the whole race”.  Harvey.

“I liked the bus journey.  I felt nervous on the way there but then on the way back I felt mixed feelings.  I was disappointed because I had not won anything but I felt happy to be involved in the opportunity to go and represent our school in the Baillie Cup”  Kirsty   

“I liked doing the Baillie Cup and the races.  I came fourth in the relay.  If we ran really fast we got a medal”  Lily

“It was really fun.   I came second in a running race I got a medal.  All of it was amazing.”  Rhys

“It was fun because we won the banner competition for having the best banner.  I enjoyed running because I almost got a medal but someone overtook me.  We needed to work hard and train for it.”  Murray

‘It was really fun and everyone was really encouraging. Everyone ran really fast. I got a silver medal in the relay race.’ Kirsten

‘It was good watching other people’s races. We had a cool banner which said Bring the Cup Holm Sweet Holm. We got two chocolates at the end because we won the banner competition.’ Emily

‘I enjoyed being there as I saw lots of people I knew.’ Blair

Thank you to Mrs Dillon, Mrs Foxcroft and other parent volunteers for their time and enthusiasm whilst training the children and for attending the event on the day. 🙂

Fairytale Friday

Fairytale Friday, we have really enjoyed dressing up and learning together.

We did workshops about Rapunzel, Jack and the Beanstalk and The Tournament.

‘It was fun because we dressed up and we were doing activities to do with Fairytales.  My favourite activity was doing the Rapunzel story map.’ Laurie 

‘I have enjoyed when we have done Jack and the Beanstalk and Rapunzel’s tower.’ Suzie

‘Its good today because its Fairytale Friday and we are learning about different stuff all together, like Jack and Beanstalk, Rapunzel and The Tournament .  We did 2 groups before lunch and 1 group after lunch.’  Adam

‘The message of the story in ‘The Tournament’ was all about not judging a book by its cover.’ Melody

P1 Trip to Urquhart Castle

What a beautiful day for a trip to Urquhart Castle.

‘It was exciting going on the trip and when we got there we had a snack then we bought stuff in the shop.  I learned how Urquhart castle got blown up.’ Adam

‘It was fantastic because we got to watch a movie about the Castle.’ Xane

‘There was a fake man in the dungeons in the castle.  My favourite part was buying something in the shop, I got a sword.’ James B

‘The trip was exciting because we went in the castle, I learned that castle are cool.’ Amber

Urquhart Castle trip and Fencing

We finally made it to Urquhart Castle on Monday.  We had a lovely day out together and learned loads about Castles.

‘It was enjoyable because you get to tap people with the end of the sword.’ Laurie

‘I enjoyed when we were fighting against each other, it was nice to do it.’ Riley

‘I liked doing the fencing because it keeps you healthy.’ Chloe
