We started this term learning all about World War One!! We found out many facts by reading poems, watching video clips and looking at the Poppy Scotland website. We were very excited to take responsibility for selling and sharing our knowledge about poppies throughout the school.
We have created 100 poppies to remind us that World War ended a 100 years ago. We hope to show you this in our sharing later on this term.
Literacy – Poetry Sharing
We continue to learn the basic facts through dice addition and using numicom. Please continue to help us at home.
Well done for ALL your achievements both out and in our school. We love hearing about them. Keep them coming into school to share with us all.
“Thank you so much. I love my card. You have made my week with your kind gesture. I am really touched and it has made me so happy.” Mrs Cameron
Children in Need
We love being kind to others, helping those who are less fortune and we continue to spread our words of kindess. We made special friendship bands that contained an awesome message. What kind words would you say about yourself?

Christmas Jumper Day – MFR
A special thank you to the families who donated for Save the Children Christmas Jumper Day.
A total of £16.70 has been donated to the charity from The Rainbow Fishes P3.
We hope you are still loving your bag of goodies from Scottish Book Week.
In our class, we continue to enjoy finding out about the world we live in and geography when learning about maps. MAF continues to teach us a great deal in December. We are also loving our daily Christmas stories being shared altogether.
We are delighted to begin our Kodaly sessions again.
We continue to practise old games and learn new ones.
Our class continue to work on various musical skills such as beat, rhythm, pitch and musical notations.
Get excited because there are many more fun activities still to be had in December…..
What an amazing party we all had.
We hope you enjoy looking through our photos.
Thank you to all who donated items for our collection for Rev Fiona and the community. As you can see from the photographs below, we have been able to make lots of hampers. They will most certainly be warmly received by those who are gifted them.
Thank you from
P3 & Miss Penman, P3/4 & Mrs Nicholson, P4 & Miss Allan.
We had an amazing day raising money for Children in Need!! During soft start lots of children created their own pictures of Pudsey, we had one acrostic poem, many pudsey crews and some responsible children counting our money total raised for the primary sevens. Please look further back in our blog to find out all the exciting things we did together as a block with the other classes.
We made cards to thank people in our life that we are grateful for.
It is important to show acts of kindess every day.
I am so proud of the children everyday as they improve in their skills of showing kindess and filling up their kindess challenge board/jar.
What are you going to do today to be kind?
From the 7th November to the 9th November we learnt about a festival of light called Diwali.
“This is a Hindu festival to celebrate their new year.”
“Children will exchange gifts, wear new clothes and send cards.”
“Hindu’s will light Diva lamps to remember Rama and Sita.”
“I liked watching the video to find out about the story of Rama and Sita. We were asking each other questions and talking about whether we think the story is real.”
“Hindu’s believe in the law of Karma. We found out today that Karma is the idea if you are good to someone – someone will be good to you.”
“Sometimes other people believe in the law of Karma. We have been learning all about kindness and we know that kindness brings happiness to others. Some people will believe if you are kind to someone they will be kind to others. It is like an never ending circle. This is a real life example of karma.”
In art, we made our own firework pictures to celebrate a week of learning about Bonfire and Diwali.
Remember Remember the 5th November!!! We worked together to create, design and build our own rockets together in our morning activity. Later we wrote some Bonfire poems using our senses to create the best atmosphere we could for our readers. We hope you all had a brilliant bonfire night!!
