Indigenous drumming workshop

On Thursday the whole school got the chance to participate in a drumming and dancing workshop. The type of drums we were playing was native to Africa. We all got the chance to play a drum, sing an African fisherman song and partake in some dancing.  We LOVED the day and are still dancing today.  Here are some photos from the workshop.

Golden week in P5

We have had the most amazing week in Primary 5.  From all our silver cards and certificates to getting our first gold card, it has been a fantastic week for us in Primary 5.  We even got the star class of the week award at assembly.  Miss Campbell is overjoyed and  filled with pride at all the amazing work P5 have done so far this term.  Keep up the good work everyone and have a super weekend!

Out and about with angles

This week we have continued to learn about angles. We have been finding out about the different types of angles and their degree size. We have been doing a mixture of worksheets, textbook work, computer games, cutting & sticking and we even made it outside to hunt for angles in our playground.  Here are some snaps of our outdoor lesson.

Space Chase reading success

Congratulations to 2 of our super P5 pupils.  Both managed to complete the Space chase reading challenge. They had to read at least 6 big chapter books.  Great work guys!

P5 Recognition wall

Breaking News! Primary 5 recognition wall is ready to go live on Monday. We are really proud of our new display. Each pupil has designed their own token as part of the wall.  If we manage to meet our weekly target we get to move up a step on the ladder. We are ready to rumble on Monday.

Messy church dates

From this term, our church plans to have a Messy Church event twice a term. The next one will take places this Saturday 7th September from 4-6pm.

Parent council meeting reminder

Hello all,

This is Scott McRoberts, the Holm Parent Council Chairperson.

As you’ll have seen in Mrs Mackay’s newsletters, on our Facebook page and on the Parent Council noticeboard outside the school, our first meeting of the term is tonight, at the school in the meeting room opposite the office, at 715pm.

You’re all very welcome to come.  Our Parent Council benefits from a range of parents from a range of years coming to participate in opinion sharing and decision making in ways that seek to bless and benefit our school.  If you can make it
tonight to find out more, you’re very welcome.  If you can’t make this date, look out for future dates for meetings (we’ll decide on those tonight) on the parent council noticeboard & Facebook page.

You’re also welcome to get in touch with us via email to
holmprimarypc@gmail.com if there’s any questions or issues you’d like raised with the parent council, or things you’d like to encourage the school about in what they are doing well in nurturing our children.

We wish you and your child/ren very well in the early days of settling into school.  And we’d love you to work with us to make it a happy, safe, respectful and learning experience for all our children, staff and parents.

Yours,

Scott McRoberts
